Brightest Day #20
So apparently the ring opened the Bermuda triangle to let the bad guys out and see how Aquaman coped. This white ring is a douche basically. Armless Aquaman doesn't even die, as Aqualad stops his evil dad from killing him. Shame. Then Mera and Aquagirl roll up to help the fight. So Mera controls the entire ocean and gets a nosebleed, poor girl, that chucks all the baddies out to sea. Then Aquaman gets an army of dead sea creatures to fight them back into the bermuda triangle. They do so and just as Aquaman is wrapping up the story with a lovely message about how they will never be alone because they have each other. The white ring says that he accomplished his mission and zaps him away. Same way the hawks went only they were said to be dead and not that they accomplished the mission.
It's at this point I realised there was only Aquaman in this issue. I hate that. But next time it's Mars attacks, where I expect Martian Manhunter completes some kind of life lesson from the ring and then gets zapped away by white light too. Just a guess but this has become really formulaic.
Also note: what are essentially 3 double splash pages, and 2 single ones, with little other content, is WAY too many in a 20 page comic.
YAY!
